About the Role
SandboxAQ is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineering Resident to join the SandboxAQ AI Generation Engine (SAIGE) team. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who is passionate about quickly building and testing new AI applications.
As a Software Engineer Resident on the SAIGE team, your primary goal will be to rapidly prototype and iterate on different potential solutions to explore new AI use cases, focusing relentlessly on speed, tangible outcomes, and production readiness.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and test full-stack features for agentic AI frameworks and products, contributing Python across the stack
- Rapidly prototype and deploy solutions to explore and validate new AI use cases, prioritizing speed and iteration
- Deliver tangible outcomes by shipping high-quality, production-ready code and demonstrating value through working features
- Participate in design discussions and rigorous code reviews, helping establish and uphold team best practices
- Manage and leverage cloud resources while collaborating closely with a small, world-class team to drive new product ideas forward
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a B.S. or M.S. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Very strong programming proficiency in a modern programming language, ideally Python
- Comfortable and experienced with Linux-based systems and the command line
- Demonstrated experience working on projects that involve the integration of software with physical hardware
- Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with frontend development in React, TypeScript and storybooks
- Familiarity with embedded systems firmware
- Familiarity with building, testing, and deploying applications within a mature software development environment (e.g., using Git, CI/CD, etc.)
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably within AWS
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and orchestration tools like Terraform and Ansible
- Previous internship or project experience in the software development industry

Technology Stack
- Our stack includes Python, Postgres, Redis, TypeScript, and React. We're looking for a candidate with an understanding of these technologies, especially when deployed and scaled within major cloud environments (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure). The ability to rapidly learn new technologies and cloud services as needed is essential.
*This is a fixed term (12-month) employment opportunity*

The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $90k - $110k per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role may be eligible for annual discretionary bonuses and equity.
