Overview
Position Summary:
Nusano seeks an Engineering Technician to support the development, assembly, and testing of novel plasma technologies. Working closely with scientists, engineers, and technicians, the Engineering Technician will execute work related to electromechanical, high-vacuum, magnet, RF, and process cooling subsystems. This position requires a strong hands-on background in a high-tech or laboratory environment. This role will conduct assembly and testing activities on primary projects and will also help with maintenance and organizational duties throughout the department. Nusano will provide training and professional development opportunities to help this position gain experience with plasma technology.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Develop, assemble, test, and maintain electromechanical systems
Assist physicists, engineers, and technicians in completing system qualifications
Perform inspection and precision measurements of components and assemblies
Collect data and provide analysis on subsystem operation
Support general organization and maintenance of the work environment
Create and maintain technical documentation
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
Five years of experience in a high-tech or laboratory environment
Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
Experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools
Familiarity with precision mechanical inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Familiarity with electrical equipment and components
Proficiency with digital productivity tools (Microsoft Office products)
Ability to follow written directions and communicate clearly
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree or higher
High-vacuum technology and handling
High-voltage, high-power, or RF electronics
Expertise using troubleshooting and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Manual machining, torch soldering/brazing, and welding
Previous work in an ISO environment
SolidWorks or other CAD programs
Physical Requirements:
Frequent use of computers with repetitive keyboard and mouse activity and manual dexterity
Ability to operate hand and power tools for long periods
Ability to regularly lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
