Manufacturing Technician
Neuralink
About Neuralink:
We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.
Team Description:
Neuralink is developing high-bandwidth brain-computer interfaces (BCI) to help those with brain injuries in the near term and reduce AI-related risks to humanity in the long term. Implant technology and our ability to manufacture high-quality implants in volume at low cost are central to realizing this vision. The Brain Interfaces Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for the design, build, and testing of all mechanical systems in our implant and charger.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
As a Manufacturing Technician, you will be responsible for manufacturing our implants and accessories. The implanted device contains micron-scale electrode threads and an electronics assembly containing the battery, chips, and circuit boards. You will coordinate production needs and demand fulfillment, and transform R&D processes into a high-quality, rapid production environment. Additionally, you will ensure completed devices have traceability and meet acceptance criteria, while also supporting maintenance of the equipment used for manufacturing and communicating with stakeholders across the company. You’ll also be engaged with many day-to-day responsibilities, including part cleaning and preparation, electronics potting, mounting implants to the surgical mechanisms, as well as component and assembly-level testing of the electronics. Furthermore, you will be expected to:
- Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of implant and charger components, subassemblies, and integration of final assemblies
- Build small implant subassemblies involving custom micron-scale electrode arrays and SoC, with high precision
- Execute equipment maintenance and calibration
- Package final products for delivery
- Maintain parts inventory
- Run functional testing of built hardware, including setup, instrumentation, and test execution
- Keep a clean, organized, and thoroughly maintained workspace
- Ensure product quality and conformance to design requirements
- Assist engineering with development builds and other tasks
Required Qualifications:
- Proven hands-on dexterity and strong mechanical aptitude
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with small, intricate parts and assemblies
- Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; thrives in dynamic environments and open to changing priorities
- Strong understanding of the scientific method and engineering first principles
- Basic computer proficiency, including use of Google Docs, Google Drive, and Gmail
- Comfortable working across operating systems including macOS, Windows, and Linux
- Familiarity with iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical drawings and work instructions
- Experience assembling small and delicate components where precision is critical
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-based setting
- Strong visual inspection skills, with the ability to detect and repair defects quickly
- Experience using electronic tools and basic software to identify, document, communicate, and resolve quality issues and defects
