Job Description:

The Head of Infrastructure at Metaphysic oversees and ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of the organization’s technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and data centers. This role involves developing and implementing long-term strategies, leading a multidisciplinary team consisting mostly of System Engineers and DevOps Engineers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior management and production supervisors to develop long-term IT and VFX systems strategies.
• Implement enterprise architecture for current and future business requirements.
• Plan and budget for new infrastructure and VFX systems, ensuring cost-effective and efficient solutions.
• Establish and monitor IT policies and practices, ensuring strict IT security compliance.
• Act as an escalation point for resolving systems, infrastructure, and IT workflow issues.
• Develop and maintain solutions for IT infrastructure and VFX systems.
• Manage, create, and edit scripts to automate systems activities.
• Coordinate with Production for systems support after hours and on weekends.
• Lead and manage a team of System Engineers and DevOps Engineers, ensuring effective performance and a positive work environment.

Must-Haves:

• Proficiency with VFX DCCs like Houdini, Maya, and Nuke.
• Strong experience with Git, Python, and C++.
• Expertise in Ansible, Terraform,
• Experience with design, implementation, and management of SQL, and NoSQL solutions.
• Proven record with Linux solutions (RH and Debian-based).
• Experience managing IT architectures on-premise and in the cloud.
• Knowledge of identity and access management solutions.
• Experience with on-premise storage clusters and virtual machines, containers, and Kubernetes.

Compliance Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with data protection laws and industry standards.
• Develop and implement compliance policies.
• Conduct audits and assessments.
• Coordinate with other departments to meet regulatory requirements.

Bonus Points for:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience in the Visual Effects or Animation industry.
• Strong experience in VFX rendering and pipeline processes.
• Knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
• Strong organizational and issue management skills.
• Ability to implement and manage infrastructure in compliance with industry standards.
