The Position:

The Director of Investor Relations (“IR”) will serve as a strategic partner to the executive and finance leadership teams, responsible for shaping and communicating the company’s narrative to the investment community. This role will manage the development and execution of the company’s investor relations strategy, ensuring consistent, transparent, and compelling messaging across all external financial communications. The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, capital markets fluency, and exceptional communication skills, with 6–10 years of related IR, equity research, investment banking, corporate finance, or FP&A experience.

This is a hybrid position located in our San Diego or South San Francisco office. We are also open to remote.

Key Responsibilities

Investor Relations Strategy & Messaging

  • Develop and execute the company’s investor relations strategy aligned with long‑term business goals.
  • Own the company’s external financial communications.
  • Prepare executive leadership for investor meetings, roadshows, and conferences.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the company’s business and industry landscape.
  • Monitor investor feedback, stock performance, analyst sentiment, and market trends.

Financial Communications & Reporting

  • Lead creation of quarterly earnings materials including scripts, presentations, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, Legal, and Executive teams.
  • Draft investor‑facing content including annual reports and ESG‑related disclosures.

Investor & Analyst Engagement

  • Serve as primary liaison for investors and analysts.
  • Build a diversified investor base.
  • Coordinate investor conferences, NDRs, and one‑on‑one meetings.
  • Track analyst models and consensus estimates.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Communications, Legal, and HR for consistent messaging.
  • Support Board updates on investor sentiment and market trends.
  • Provide insights to Finance and FP&A teams.

Who You Are:

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 10 years of experience in IR, equity research, investment banking, corporate finance, or FP&A.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and capital markets.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proven investor‑facing experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling.

Preferred

  • Experience in life sciences, diagnostics, biotech, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks.
  • Experience with quarterly earnings cycles.

For candidates based in our San Diego office, the salary is $201,500 - $234,500.

For candidates based in our South San Francisco office, the salary is $236,000 - $263,000.

For candidates working remote (US), the salary is $206,000 - $231,000.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
