The Senior Research Associate participates in various R&D projects that are focused on developing the company’s future cell therapy products, such as maintaining pluripotent stem cell culture and its derivatives, performing various assay related to the cell therapy product, and established novel assay that meet project needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects.
- Independently maintain iPSC cultures and differentiate cells to terminal endpoints.
- Make detailed observations; compile and file records within R&D; data analysis; and communicate findings to supervisors and the broader R&D team.
- Maintain general lab inventory and organization of basic lab supplies, equipment, and reagents.
- Independently maintain detailed and concise lab notebook.
- Troubleshoot problems in the design/execution of experiments and projects.
- Contribute to writing technical reports and other documentation.
- Continue to build professional expertise through reading current scientific literature.
- Investigate, create, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement.
- May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Cell Culture Techniques: Proficient in aseptic cell culture, with experience in hESCs or hiPSCs strongly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, western blot, qRT-PCR, RNA/DNA extraction, and/or fluorescence microscopy.
- Programming Skills: Familiarity with R, Python, or MATLAB is preferred. Experience in bioinformatic analysis of RNA-seq data is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate ideas and strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in independently quantifying, analyzing, and plotting data in programs such as R, Python, or GraphPad Prism
- Organization: Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Flexibility: Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
- Data Analysis & Presentation: Efficiently organize and present data.
- Professional Scientific Expertise: Stay updated with scientific literature relevant to iPSC-derived cell therapies, competing technologies, while complying with safety, training, and quality regulations.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office and Lab environment. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. This is an indoor position requiring the ability to perform experiments in the laboratory, and type and use a computer.
